LONG GREEN FARM
Long
Green is on the eastern edge of Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales,
running from 1200ft to 1500ft above sea level. It is a family
run farm comprising 500ha of bleak hill grazing. The Pedigree
Swaledale flock has been farmed by the Marwood family for sixty
years; some sheep can be traced back throughout this whole period.
Notable achievement by the Long Green flock include a breed
record for a Swaledale aged ram (£12,000) and breed record
for a pen of ten ewes (£780 each and pictured above)

BLOODLINES
AT LONG GREEN
Present
sires include:
'Gillies Ace' bought Oct 2004 for £28,000 having
recently been awarded Supreme Champion at Tan Hill Show 2005.
'Mossdale Whiskey' a jointly owned sire bought for £42,000
has several sons for sale in 2005.
A lot of sale sheep can be traced back to 'West Stonesdale
Fabulous' (£39,000) and 'Long Green Tony' who
made a breed record for an aged ram when sold in 2003 for £12,000

SHOW
RING SUCCESS
Recent
results include Supreme Champion at Tan Hill show 2005 with
'Gillies Ace' also nine 1st prizes at the same show including
Champion gimmer hogg (a 'Stonesdale Fabulous' daughter
), 1st prize for pair of tup hoggs and 1st prize for group of
three tup hoggs.
Long
Green sheep have been regular prize winners at Reeth Show over
the years.

HEALTHY SHEEP!
Long Green
is farm assured, all rams and 95% female sheep are scrapie gene
tested (mostly group one or two). All females are abortion vaccinated
with no cases for twenty years. 400 to 500 breeding females
are sold every year all with a very high health status and record
