Kirkby Stephen Weekly Sheep – Tuesday 30^th June 2009

On Tuesday night Harrison & Hetherington Ltd conducted their weekly sale of prime lambs and cast ewes. It was good to see several new faces returning to the market complementing the existing excellent customer base of vendors.  Lambs were good to sell however in keeping with national trends were less money on the week. 

A top price of £80.80 was achieved for an excellent pair of Beltex lambs consigned by Messes J W Watson, Whygill Head purchased by R I Brown, Butchers, Kirkby Stephen whilst a Texel from Mr T Brogden, Helbeck Farm realised £80 to the same purchaser.  Fleshy lambs regularly sold at prices in excess of 145 – 150 pence per kilo, with leaner sorts also finding a keen enquiry.

Cast ewes were terrific to sell as all vendors left the ringside delighted and amazed at the prices received.
