Kirkby Stephen Weekly Sheep – Tuesday 2nd  September 2008

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale at Kirkby Stephen Mart on Tuesday afternoon with 2,906 sheep sold comprising 387 lightweight & Store lambs, 1,892 Prime Lambs & 627 Ewes & Rams.

The usual seasonal rise in numbers saw trade remaining level with the previous week.  Heavy lambs 45 -52 kg recording the highest average and the sales top price per kilo of 144.7p for a pen of Beltex x lambs from D & C E Marton, Easegill Head and were purchased for £67.30 by Messrs J F & D Haigh Butchers, Kirkby Stephen and were also the top price per head.
